WhatsApp on the Microsoft Windows Phone platform

A number of phones around the world are running on the Windows Phone platform but only a handful of those can install WhatsApp. In a blog post, the Support Team of WhatsApp announced that by the end of 2016, the app would no longer be supported on Windows Phone 7.

Although users of WhatsApp on the Windows Phone 7 could still use the app until the end of 2016, they could no longer create an account on the device or even move an account after July 1, 2016.

Can WhatsApp still be installed on a Windows Phone?

The answer is YES. However, the following requirements need to be met:

• The Windows Phone platform must be 8 or higher.
• The phone needs to have an active internet connection.

Are the Lumia devices supported?

The best way to answer this question is to know what version of Windows Phone a particular Lumia device runs on. Here are the devices referenced in the title of this post:
