Executive Overview
Isophon – Western Electric – Venetian Rm – Floor 30 Room 319– Isophon Arabba Loudspeaker – Shown with Marcassa Ebony and Ceramic AccutonDrivers, but is also available with the Diamond Accuton Tweeter as well. At thebooth was a German Professor of Physics named Roland Galdo who spent an hourexplaining to me the process of design that went into the Arabba. Having accessto a Cray Supercomputer at Stuttgart Universityin Germanywhere he is a professor, Roland modeled the drivers measured data, theenclosure and the crossover network. According to him this required 32simultaneous mathematical equations to solve with 800 unknown variables.Fortunately he has access to a Cray Supercomputer at the University and spent 6months crunching numbers to create the best possible loudspeaker system.(Roland explained a PC would be simply too slow for this..) When asked thedistortion of the midrange and tweeter, the answer was zero. This too may havebeen a mathematical estimation, the real number being some infinitesimallysmall fraction of one, but at that point, who is counting? (Besides Roland andhis Cray I mean).
The sound was impressive, indeed perhaps flawless and thecabinet as beautifully crafted as it was meticulously designed. The crossoverwas rather unusual, perhaps completely unique and uses a technique where theresponse of a notch filter is simulated, and somehow divided into two, topassively achieve a slope of more than 70db/Octave, without the need for 12components per section (for a three way speaker that would require 48 parts ata minimum.) Roland, it seems got away with only 32 parts, oddly enough the samenumber as the number of equations he let the supercomputer crunch. Animpressive accomplishment even for those of us who never use all the buttons onour calculators! Turns out, after 6 months of computation the best cabinetshape (As far as practicality is concerned) is a flat front, a flat rear andtwo sides of equal and constant radii. MSRP of the Isophon Arabba starts from$37,000 per pair.

ALIVE is the next generation dynamic persistent mission addon for Arma 3. Developed by Arma community veterans, the easy to use modular mission framework provides everything that players and mission makers need to set up and run realistic military operations in almost any scenario up to Company level, including command, combat support, service support and logistics. Me and some of my friends have got a dedicated server recently and we're looking for a persistent, dynamic, whole island, Players and AI versus AI mission that we could run 24/7 and just be able to jump in and out of it whenever we want to while AIs fight fights against each other when we're not online. In this section you can find all community made Single Player missions for Arma 3. Additional addons required to be able to play the mission are displayed in the list below so you don't have to visit the particular page. A link to all of those addons which are required can be found at the end of the page under the 'required' section. CLAfghan in ARMA 2 took about 3 1/2 months of on and off playing for the region to be stabilized. ARMA 3 Chernarus as Ukranians vs Russians took about 1 month 1/2 for us to get steamrolled. ARMA 3 PR FATA took about a month of dedicated operations to completely root out the insurgency to be nothing more than pairs of scattered insurgents at a time.

An iconic recording of Sir John Barbirolli dedicated to Edward Elgar’s masterpiece, the Enigma Variations, together with the Cockaigne Overture, all performed with passion by Barbirolli and the Philharmonia Orchestra. remastered from original tapes in 24-bit/192kHz
Whilst this recording was being made in 1962, the BBC was preparing a film documentary on the life of Elgar to mark the 100th edition of its arts programme Monitor. Produced by Humphrey Burton and directed by the late Ken Russell, Elgar was first broadcast on 11 November 1962 and became one of the most popular films of its kind ever shown on TV, and contributed to a marked revival of interest in the composer’s music. A still from the film is used on the sleeve.
According to the copy on the front cover advertisement of the album in the November 1962 GRAMOPHONE, Sir John Barbirolli was “a personal friend of the composer and it is true, having been a cellist in the orchestra at the premiere of Elgars Cello Concerto in 1919, he enjoyed a close rapport with the composer, winning his praise for his performances of the Introduction and Allegro for Strings and Second Symphony and becoming a great interpreter of Elgars music.
“…It is an absolutely outstanding performance, captured by the recording people as near to perfection as possible. I have never before heard so much beautiful detail so clearly, something obviously brought about by Barbirollis care in the first place and by the care of HMVs [EMIs] experts in the second. Thr bass is particularly strong and nothing that happens of interest down below in the cellos and bases is missed. But, indeed, the whole orchestral balance is first rate. He liked the performance too: “I must turn to Barbirolli and the really wonderful playing of the Philharmonia Orchestra in both works. Performances are, as one expects from Sir John, right from the heart, yet they are always guided by the head… and concludes “Even those who have this music on their shelves already should not miss this superb record.
Recorded on 9 May and 27 August 1962 at Kingsway Hall, London with legendary producer Victor Olof and engineer Harold Davidson.
Cut at Abbey Road Studios from the original stereo analogue master tapes with the Neumann VMS82 lathe fed an analogue pre-cut signal from a specially adapted Studer A80 tape deck with additional advance playback head, making the cut a totally analogue process.
